Join Hands for Sustainable Change

At Social Education and Voluntary Action (SEVA), we believe in the power of collective action to uplift disadvantaged communities in Andhra Pradesh. Founded in 1992 and operating primarily in Eluru, West Godavari, and Krishna Districts, SEVA focuses on empowering marginalized groups — including children, women, Dalits, Tribals, farmers, and fisherfolk — through projects in agriculture, education, livelihoods, water management, irrigation, animal husbandry, and disaster mitigation. Our work has already transformed thousands of lives, from empowering 5,000+ farmers via FPOs and renovating 41 irrigation tanks for 6,300 beneficiaries to training 810+ women and youth in skills and reaching 11,573 people with WASH awareness.

As a volunteer, you can be part of this meaningful journey, contributing your time, skills, and passion to create real impact in rural and Tribal areas. Whether you’re a student, professional, or retiree, SEVA offers flexible opportunities tailored to your expertise. Volunteering with us not only supports community development but also provides personal growth, networking with like-minded individuals, and hands-on experience in grassroots NGO work.

Volunteering Opportunities

SEVA welcomes volunteers for a variety of roles, both on-field and remote, aligned with our core projects. Here are some of the best ways to get involved:

  • Agriculture and Livelihood Support: Assist in Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) activities, such as training sessions on sustainable farming, market linkages for crops like cashew, vegetables, and pulses, or helping with organic farming workshops in villages like Jeelugumilli and Dwaraka Tirumala. Ideal for those with agricultural knowledge or organizational skills.
  • Education and Scholarships: Support scholarship distribution events, mentor students from rural schools, or organize literacy and awareness campaigns. Volunteers can help verify applications, conduct motivational sessions, or assist in events like the Godrej Scholarship programs benefiting 590+ meritorious students.
  • Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Camps: Join free veterinary health camps in mandals like Chintalapudi and Chatrai, where you can assist in animal treatments, distribute medicines, or educate farmers on disease management. Suitable for veterinary students, animal lovers, or those interested in rural health.
  • Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH): Participate in Jal Jeevan Mission activities covering 1,202 habitations, including awareness drives on safe drinking water, handwashing demonstrations, or community monitoring in coastal fisherfolk villages like Narsapur Mandal. Great for volunteers passionate about public health and environment.
  • Irrigation and Community Mobilization: Help with tank renovation projects under APIIATP, community meetings for water user associations, or fieldwork in irrigation sites. This is best for those with engineering, environmental, or community organizing backgrounds.
  • Administrative and Remote Roles: Contribute remotely from anywhere (e.g., Hyderabad) by managing social media, content creation for awareness (e.g., IEC materials), data entry for impact reports, or virtual trainings. On-site office support in Eluru includes event coordination or documentation.

Volunteering durations can range from short-term (e.g., 1-2 weeks for camps) to long-term (3-6 months for project support), with options for full-time, part-time, or weekend commitments.

Benefits of Volunteering with SEVA

  1. Skill Development: Gain practical experience in NGO operations, rural development, and project management.
  2. Impactful Contribution: Directly support SEVA’s vision of a just and humane world, with opportunities to see tangible results like empowered farmers or healthier communities.
  3. Networking and Recognition: Connect with partners like NABARD, UNICEF, and World Bank; receive certificates and references for your efforts.
  4. Personal Growth: Immerse in diverse cultures, build empathy, and contribute to causes like women’s empowerment and child rights.
  5. Logistics Support: For on-field volunteers, SEVA provides basic accommodation, travel reimbursements (where applicable), and safety guidelines.
