Scholarships (Education)
Overview
Scholarships (Education) Project SEVA’s Scholarships (Education) Project is a key initiative to promote access to quality education for meritorious students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in rural and Tribal areas of Eluru District (formerly part of West Godavari). Through partnerships with corporates and local communities, SEVA awards financial assistance to high-achieving students, encouraging them to pursue higher secondary and further studies. This program aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s emphasis on merit-based support for education (e.g., schemes like Pratibha Scholarship, Jagan Anna Vidya Deevena, and support for SC/ST/BC students), helping reduce dropout rates and build a foundation for future opportunities.
Project Overview
Highlights
In rural West Godavari/Eluru regions, many talented students from poor families face financial barriers to continuing education after SSC (10th class). SEVA bridges this gap by organizing merit-based scholarship distribution events, providing direct financial aid for tuition, books, and other expenses. The project targets students from 18+ schools and 30+ villages, focusing on SSC passers with strong academic records. Key collaborations include Godrej Agrovet Limited (GAVL), which supports large-scale distributions to motivate youth and create awareness among parents and communities.
Objectives
- Recognize and reward academic excellence among underprivileged students.
- Reduce financial burden on families, preventing school dropouts.
- Inspire higher education pursuit (Intermediate/+2 and beyond) in rural areas.
- Promote inclusivity by covering students from marginalized sections (Tribal, Dalit, women).
- Foster community awareness on education’s role in empowerment and development
