Jal Jeevan Mission

Overview

Jal Jeevan Mission Project SEVA’s Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) initiatives focus on supporting the national flagship program to provide safe and adequate drinking water through functional household tap connections (FHTCs) in rural habitations of East Godavari and West Godavari Districts (old districts), Andhra Pradesh. As a community-oriented NGO, SEVA contributes through mobilization, awareness, monitoring, and capacity building to ensure sustainable implementation, complementing major infrastructure projects.

SEVA supports JJM by covering 1,202 habitations through community engagement, awareness programs, and coordination with government departments for tap connections, source sustainability, and hygiene practices. 

Objectives

  • Facilitate household tap water connections in rural habitations for safe, regular supply.
  • Build community awareness and participation in water management and conservation.
  • Integrate hygiene education and source protection in Tribal and marginalized areas.

    Programs

    1. Coverage and Mobilization under Jal Jeevan Mission
          • Ongoing support for 1,202 rural habitations in old West  District for FHTCs.
          • Community mobilization to ensure beneficiary participation, scheme awareness, and timely connections.
        1. Awareness and Capacity Building
          • Village-level campaigns on safe water usage, regular supply, and hygiene.
          • Training for Village Water & Sanitation Committees (VWSCs) and local groups.
          • Integration with other SEVA programs (e.g., Urban WASH, CAB awareness) for broader impact.

    • Advancing tap water access in 1,202 habitations, contributing to district’s 83.96%+ coverage.
    • Improved health and hygiene for thousands of rural families.
    • Enhanced community ownership for long-term maintenance.
    • Support for state goals: 
    • Reduced waterborne diseases and time spent on water collection (especially for women).
