Drinking Water

Overview

Drinking Water Project

SEVA’s Purified Drinking Water Project delivers safe, clean drinking water directly to households in underserved rural villages of Eluru District, Andhra Pradesh. In partnership with Godrej Agrovet Limited (GAVL), the initiative operates and maintains Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants to provide reliable, doorstep water supply, addressing contamination risks and improving health outcomes for marginalized communities.

Project Overview

Highlights

Overview

Many rural households in Eluru District face challenges with access to safe drinking water due to groundwater contamination and limited infrastructure. SEVA, with logistical and technical support from Godrej Agrovet Limited, operates two RO plants to produce and distribute purified water. The project currently serves three villages in Chintalapudi Mandal — Seethanagaram, Medisettivaripalem, and Chintampalli — covering 2,121 households. Daily distribution ensures each family receives 20 litres of purified water delivered directly to their doorstep, promoting convenience, hygiene, and equitable access.

Objectives

  • Provide consistent access to safe, purified drinking water for rural families.
  • Reduce health risks associated with contaminated groundwater.
  • Promote hygiene awareness and community participation in water management.
  • Ensure sustainable maintenance of RO infrastructure through partnerships.
